CPR Classes in Atlanta, Georgia

Printable CPR/Choking Summary

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is defined as a lifesaving technique that is useful in several types of emergencies, including a heart attack or near drowning, in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped.

According to the AHA, when a person starts CPR immediately after someone’s heart stops beating, CPR can double or even triple the chances of their survival. When one’s heart stops, your body no longer receives oxygen-rich blood and the lack of oxygen can cause brain damage in just a few minutes. Because CPR keeps oxygen-rich blood flowing to the brain and other organs, administering this until emergency medical treatment can restore the person’s heart rhythm back to normal is imperative.

A person might need CPR if they stop breathing in any of the following situations:

  • a cardiac arrest or heart attack
  • near-drowning
  • choking
  • suffocation
  • a road traffic accident
  • poisoning
  • a drug or alcohol overdose
  • smoke inhalation
  • electrocution
  • suspected sudden infant death syndrome

To learn how to administer CPR properly, you will need to take our accredited CPR training course, which includes first-aid training and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). If you do an online search for “CPR classes near me,” or “CPR certification classes near me,” you should come across our site where you can find more information about obtaining your CPR certification.

Atlanta, Georgia CPR classes

At Rescue CPR LLC, we are proud to offer training, both an instructor-led conventional class as well as a blended course that combines a virtual lecture session and an in-person physical skills check. We are trained to teach you how to respond quickly and safely to emergency situations such as choking among adults, children and infants. Rest assured, we would thoroughly review basic CPR techniques during our course.

The American Heart Association advises the following, which we would help you with:

  • If you are not trained in CPR or nervous about giving rescue breaths, then provide hands-only CPR. In other words, give uninterrupted chest compressions of 100 to 120 a minute until paramedics arrive rather than rescue breathing.
  • If you are well-trained, check to see if there is a pulse and breathing. If there is no pulse or breathing within 10 seconds, you must begin chest compressions. Start CPR with 30 chest compressions before giving two rescue breaths.
